This UVP, Inc. Model UVG-54 Hand-held UV lamp is a lightweight 6-watt model with 254 nm shortwave UV light output. It uses A/C current with an 8 ft. cord. This lamp provides higher intensity than 6-watt battery-operated models for greater fluorescence.
GEMSTONE and MINERAL INSPECTION
UV Light can react with the chemicals of a mineral specimen and cause it to glow, called fluorescence. Color and intensity of the fluorescence can identify many materials. Some minerals and gemstones will fluoresce under shortwave UV light and not fluoresce under longwave.
