Sulfurated potash is a yellow to reddish-brown solid that is soluble in water and decomposes upon exposure to air. It has a characteristic odor of rotten eggs.

Sulfurated potash is used in a variety of industries, including agriculture, photography, and the production of rubber and dyes. It is also used by artists and metalworkers to create an aged, antique patina on copper, brass, bronze and nickel.
